Introduction:

Creating a Listening Journal for your experiences with Alchemy Crystal Bowls allows you to capture the essence of your sound journey. There's no prescribed way to document your reflections; you can use key words, drawings, poems, or any form of expression that resonates with you. This is a personal space for your observations and "aha" moments, serving as a valuable reference for your self-care toolkit. This exercise focuses on the principles of observation and experimentation, aligning with the essence of science.

 Materials Needed:

  • A journal or notebook
  • A pen or pencil
  • A timer
  • An open mind and a willingness to witness your own experience

 Setting:

This exercise can be done anywhere – inside or outside, at home or in the office. Find a quiet and comfortable space where you can focus without distractions.

 

Instructions:

1. Set the Scene:

  • Find a comfortable seat in your chosen space.
  • Set your timer for two minutes.

2. Observation:

  • During these two minutes, observe and listen to as many sounds as you can in that space.
  • Write down every sound you notice, regardless of its volume or proximity.

3. Experimentation:

  • After the initial observation, stand up and move around the space.
  • Continue recording sounds as you explore different areas.

4. Reflection:

  • At the end of the two minutes, review your findings.
  • Reflect on any sounds that surprised you or that you hadn't noticed before.

 

Sound Memory Reflection:

1. Create a Quiet Space:

  • Find a quiet and comfortable place.
  • Take a few deep breaths to center yourself.

2. Recall a Powerful Sound Memory:

  • Think of a sound or music memory that holds emotional significance. It could be the doorbell in your childhood home, a lullaby from a loved one, or a song linked to a specific event.

3. Explore Associated Senses:

  • Consider if other senses are attached to this memory – smells, tastes, emotions, or moods.

4. Observe Physical and Emotional Shifts:

  • Pay attention to any shifts in your body, breath, or heartbeat.
  • Identify the "feeling tone" of this memory without labeling it as good or bad.

5. Document Your Observations:

  • Write down your observations in your Listening Journal.
  • Include details about the sound, associated senses, and the overall feeling tone.
