Every year in late winter, Tucson becomes the meeting place of the crystal world. Gemstones, minerals and stones arrive from every corner of the earth, and for a few weeks the whole city hums with them.
This is where we gather for Level 3.
We spend three days at the Crystal Tones venue at the Tucson Gem Show, surrounded by Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls and the gemstones and minerals all around us. The Gem Show becomes our practice field. We work with the bowls and with the stones themselves, connecting with the essence of the gems and crystals the alchemies are made of. Then we return to the bowls and listen to those same alchemies through sound.
A fourth day is given entirely to exploring, practicing and enjoying nature.
Level 3 is a deep dive into the alchemies. Where they come from, how they sound, how they feel in the room and in the body. We bring together the stone and the tone, and study them side by side.
We close with a ceremony in the desert. Open sky, warm earth, and the bowls.
The Alchemies
An alchemy bowl carries the energy of a gemstone, mineral or metal fused into quartz. Each one has its own character, its own color, its own way of meeting the listener.
We work with the alchemies as archetypes. Each one holds a quality, a story, a way of being that speaks to something within us. Once you know an alchemy as an archetype, you begin to recognize when it is called for.
In this training we study them closely. We hold the raw gemstone in one hand and play its alchemy with the other. We listen for the differences between alchemies when the note is alike. We feel how a single alchemy shifts the atmosphere of a whole session.
You leave with a living understanding of the alchemies, built through your own ears and hands.
Crystal Tones at the Gem Show
The Tucson Gem Show is the largest gathering of gems, minerals and crystals in the world. Crystal Tones is part of it every year, and for these days their venue becomes our classroom.
Few places on earth hold this many alchemies at once. Here we can compare, sense and play what is usually spread across continents.
Core Elements
In a crystal workshop we learn about healing with crystalline essence and energy. How to sense a stone, how to work with it, how its qualities meet the body.
Then we explore the Gem Show freely. Time to wander, discover and choose crystals for yourself. The selection and the value here are extraordinary. Once you have bought crystals in Tucson, it is hard to buy them anywhere else.
Level 3 brings new ways of working with the bowls. We practice working in sessions with the alchemies, using specific alchemies on the body to move energy. You also learn a new technique.
Alongside the workshop days there is plenty of time to simply play and connect with the alchemies, or to find a bowl of your own. One full day to play every bowl in the room and explore the crystals at the Gem Show. Time to listen freely, compare, ask questions and follow your curiosity.
Morning Practice
Each of the four days begins together. A breathing practice, a moment of stillness, a way to arrive before we step into the Gem Show.
Canyon Hike
One morning we hike into the canyon to visit a very special place.
Ceremony in the Desert
The retreat closes in the Sonoran Desert. Saguaros, red earth and a wide open sky. We gather for a ceremony and a sound bath in the landscape, an offering to the land and to everything these days have opened.

Good to Know
All activities are included in the immersion and the retreat. The morning practice is optional, since many of you have your own morning rhythm.
We keep the lunch breaks long on purpose. There's a lovely area at the gem show to grab lunch, take a short walk and enjoy a coffee in the sunshine.
You'll have plenty of time to explore the gem show, also within our session hours. Getting to know the healing qualities of specific gemstones and minerals is part of the practice. And of course we'll play the bowls Crystal Tones brings. Around 6,000 Alchemy Crystal Bowls will be there for us, so we'll try our best to play as many as we can.
Meet Your Guides
Irina Sterna
She runs Alchemy Sound Studio and chooses every bowl she sells in person. Irina teaches sound healing trainings from foundations to advanced practitioner level. Her teaching rests on many years of practice.
Nicole Rutsch
Nicole is a Reiki Master Teacher and sound healer based in New York City. Her work brings Reiki and sound together to support nervous system regulation, emotional balance and deep rest.
where we meet
On the morning of the 28th we gather at the Botanic House for our opening ceremony and our first lecture session. From the 29th to the 31st we spend most of our days out at the gem show itself.
The Botanic House is our community home for these days. We begin each morning here with our practice together, and the pool is always there for a swim when you need a moment to land.
