The Temple SuperGrade Bowl

Look at a Temple bowl next to a standard practitioner bowl and the difference is obvious before you ever strike it. Rounded body, wide belly, a rim that pulls in slightly at the top, and a small foot holding it up off the table. It's a beautiful object. It also happens to be a shape where every curve is doing something to the sound.

The form itself is old. Footed, round-bellied bowls have been used in temple and ritual settings across Asia for centuries, long before quartz was ever an option. Crystal Tones took that shape and made it in 99.992% pure quartz, so what you're holding sits between two traditions. The curved wall is the main departure from a straight-sided bowl. A cylinder vibrates predictably. Its diameter is the same all the way up, so the overtones line up in tidy intervals and the note reads as clean and focused. A curved wall has no single diameter. Different heights on the bowl want to vibrate at slightly different rates, which spreads the overtone series out. What you hear is rounder and warmer, with more movement happening inside the note. Less of a laser, more of a bloom.

The Temple's curve pushes it outward instead, so the sound fills a room more evenly rather than aiming at the ceiling.

Pulling it in slows the release. The sound has to find its way out through a smaller opening, so the note builds instead of jumping out at you, and the sustain runs noticeably longer.
